Berlin Part 2

Every city has its secrets.  And Berlin is no different.

My fourth night here had me searching for mysterious secret bars even the locals haven’t found.

Finding these bars took me on a journey from locating a steel door under an old railway bridge to discovering places tucked away from the hustle and bustle.

The first bar I went to was called Drayton Bar.  To find this place follow these directions.

The room downstairs was lit using four lamps.  This gave the decor a dark and mysterious look and feel about it.  There was a small cocktail bar and nice furniture for you to sit and relax (and smoke if you're into that).  The bartender was polite and friendly – and was happy to accommodate your drink preferences…Cosmo please!

On the upper level was a restaurant called Cookies Cream, it's suppose to be one of the best vegetarian restaurants in Berlin. I recommend having pre-drinks downstairs before heading upstairs to have food - make sure you reserve a table, was quite busy!

TIP: Taking photographs is frowned upon without asking for the consent of other people – so make sure you ask before snapping away.

The second bar I went to was Bar Tausend.  When you enter the room what attracts your eyes is the big circle of light, definitely the key feature here.  It's a bar that's known for good DJ's and frequented by various models and other A listers.

This place was harder than the first bar to find, here are the directions for you.

I arrived at around 8 and it was quiet.  At the bar I ordered… you guessed it, another Cosmo.

Inside the decor was sleek and stylish and on the stage a band was setting up ready for their performance later on that night.  This seemed to be a good place to be towards the later end of your night out.

After a few drinks it was time to head to Grill Royal to have food, directions here. It was very busy inside and without a reservation at 9.30 in the evening, we were very lucky to get a table.  We waited in the bar area (which do an amazing selection of spirits) for 15 minutes and then got seated in a lovely spot. If you like meat or fish dishes then you will like this restaurant - no German food here.

And the wine book was 40 pages long!...

The staff were friendly and helpful to.  If you’re ever in Berlin, I recommend this place.
